BRIDAL AND CHILDREN'S EVENTS FOR SCOUTS
Nationally Recognized Author and Speaker to Appear in
Short Hills October 25 & 26, 2002
The Patriots' Path Council, Boy Scouts of America will host two special events on October 25 & 26, 2002 in Short Hills. Both events will be hosted by nationally known etiquette expert and author Peggy Post, spokesperson for the Emily Post Institute. On Friday, Oct. 25, Post will host a "Wedding Etiquette Seminar" at Saks Fifth Avenue at the Mall at Short Hills. At the wedding etiquette seminar, which begins at 7 p.m., Post will talk to brides and their families about wedding planning and wedding etiquette. In addition, a special informal show of recent brides modeling Vera Wang gowns and a representative from Vera Wang will introduce the new collection. Each guest will receive a signed, complimentary copy of "Emily Post's Wedding Etiquette."
On Saturday, Oct. 26, Peggy Post, along with her sister-in-law Cindy Post Senning, Ed.D., will host a "Children's Good Manners Table Etiquette" program for children aged 8-14 at the Hilton Short Hills. The program's content will be based on the pair's new book, "The Gift of Good Manners: A Parent's Guide to Raising Respectful, Kind, Considerate Children" (HarperResource).
During this program, which takes place from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., children will learn to navigate a formal table setting and fine dining experience with confidence. Peggy and Cindy will discuss the principles of etiquette-respect, honesty and consideration-and how they impact children's daily lives. Conversations will cover manners as tools, the treatment of self and others, showing respect to family and friends, and communication tools such as letters, email and cell phones.
According to Senning, "The main emphasis of the program is to show children the positive impact manners can have on their lives." Each child in attendance will receive a signed, complimentary copy of Post and Senning's book "The Gift of Good Manners."
Advanced registration is required for both events. Tickets for the "Wedding Etiquette Seminar are $100 and tickets for the "Children's Good Manners Table Etiquette" program are $150. All proceeds go to supporting the Council's youth programs, especially those benefiting at-risk and urban youth. To register for either event or for more information contact Joseph Gonnella at 908-654-9191 x 121. The Patriots' Path Council currently serves over 22,000 youth in Morris, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Middlesex Counties.
